Vrijwilligers, DWS kan er niet zonder. Zij zijn de motor achter al onze activiteiten. Wist je dat vrijwilligerswerk hip is? 
Bijna één op de twee Nederlanders doet vrijwilligerswerk, of heeft vrijwilligerswerk gedaan. En steeds vaker doen we het vooral uit een eigen motivatie, bijvoorbeeld omdat we nieuwe vaardigheden willen ontwikkelen, of om ons sociale netwerk uit te bouwen.

Wij zetten vijf redenen op een rij waarom vrijwilligerswerk ook iets voor jou is!

1. Je ontwikkelt nieuwe competenties

Als vrijwilliger ontwikkel je kennis en vaardigheden – competenties – die voor jezelf én jouw omgeving heel nuttig zijn. Bij DWS kan je werken aan je secretariele vaardigheden, hoe om te gaan met mensen met een beperking of sonsoren benaderen. Of je nu jong of oud bent, een dijk van een CV hebt of nog een beginner bent op de arbeidsmarkt, er is altijd nog genoeg om te leren.

2. Er kan een nieuwe baan uit voortvloeien

Niet alleen betaalde banen staan goed op je CV. Ook door vrijwilligerswerk te doen vergroot je je werkervaring, en vul je je CV aan. Daarnaast kun je collega-vrijwilligers vragen om een referentie voor je te schrijven, die je vervolgens op je LinkedIn-profiel plaatst. Mogelijk springt jouw profiel dankzij deze referentie wél in het oog bij die ene recruiter. Tot slot breid je tijdens je vrijwilligerswerk je professionele netwerk uit, wat de lijntjes naar een nieuwe baan korter maakt.

3. Je ontdekt wat je graag doet (of niet)

Wanneer je bent afgestudeerd weet je nog niet altijd wat je wilt doen. Vrijwilligerswerk vormt een goede oplossing voor dit probleem, omdat je kennis kunt maken met verschillende projecten en verschillende functies. Zo ontdek je wat goed bij jou past. En bij het eerstvolgende sollicitatiegesprek voor een nieuwe baan kun jij haarfijn uitleggen waarom jij deze richting op wilt gaan.

4. Je krijgt nieuwe sociale contacten.

Door vrijwilligerswerk te doen ontwikkel je niet alleen een professioneel netwerk, maar doe je ook nieuwe sociale contacten op. Mogelijk worden deze nieuwe contacten vrienden van je, omdat jullie vergelijkbare interesses hebben en elkaar goed hebben leren kennen tijdens het samenwerken.

5. Je vergroot je zelfverzekerdheid én geluk!

Als vrijwilliger maak je een verschil in de samenleving. Door te bewijzen dat jij verschil maakt, groeit je zelfvertrouwen. En dat komt goed van pas tijdens een sollicitatiegesprek, of je eerste dag bij een nieuwe baan. Daarnaast toonden verschillende wetenschappers aan dat vrijwilligerswerk goed is voor je lichaam en geest: vrijwilligerswerk hebben minder stress en een hogere levenstevredenheid. Fantastisch toch?

Het VIP! in Stadskanaal organiseert een aantal keren per jaar de training ‘Ontdek je Talent’: een 4-tal bijeenkomsten waarbij het draait om jouw passies en talenten als opstap naar (vrijwilligers)werk. Ben jij op zoek naar vrijwilligerswerk, maar weet je nog niet precies wat je wilt gaan doen? Vind je het prettig als we je hierbij op weg helpen? Dan is ‘Ontdek je Talent’ iets voor jou. Tijdens deze training ga je onderzoeken wat je leuk vindt, waar je goed in bent, wat belangrijk voor je is, en wat je graag wilt gaan doen. Rode draad van de training is: wie ben ik, wat kan ik, wat wil ik? Iedereen beschikt over talenten. Deelnemers komen vaak tot de ontdekking dat ze tot veel meer in staat zijn dan ze hadden verwacht. Durven weer naar zichzelf te kijken en leren negatieve ervaringen om te buigen naar iets positiefs. Je kunt elkaar helpen door er samen over te praten. Dat alles geeft een goed gevoel en zelfvertrouwen. De bijeenkomsten vinden plaats op de maandagmiddag van 13.15 – 15.15 uur bij Welstad aan het Gandhiplein. Op 11 maart 2019 start een volgende groep. Aanmelden kan bijv. via email vip@welstad.nl of kom langs bij het VIP!
